SATOC (Single Award Task Order Contract)
SATOC stands for Single Award Task Order Contract. A SATOC is an IDIQ contract awarded to just one company. Every task order under it goes to that company, usually priced against rates or terms set at award.
Agencies use SATOCs when they need fast, repeat work from one trusted contractor. Large single-award IDIQs face extra rules and approvals.
Why it matters to a small contractor
A SATOC holder has steady work and fewer competitions, which makes them a great partner for local subs. Building a long relationship with one can mean years of jobs.
Example
A base awards a SATOC with a $9.5 million ceiling for roof repairs. Over five years the holder gets 40 task orders without competing each one.
SATOC: common questions
Are SATOCs common?
Less common than MATOCs, because the government prefers multiple awards when possible.
Can a SATOC be set aside for small business?
Yes. Many SATOCs are set aside for small businesses or specific programs.
