Entity Validation Service (Entity Validation Service (EVS))

Entity Validation Service stands for Entity Validation Service (EVS). The Entity Validation Service is the part of SAM.gov that confirms your business is real and that your legal name and physical address match trusted records. It runs before you get a UEI and again when you change key information.

If SAM cannot match you automatically, you open a validation ticket and upload documents, such as articles of organization, state business filings, or utility bills showing your name and address. The documents must clearly show both your legal name and address.

Why it matters to a small contractor

Most SAM registration delays happen here. Gather your state formation documents and a recent document showing your exact address before you start, and make sure they match each other.

Example

A cleaning company's validation fails because its state filing lists a suite number but its SAM entry did not. The owner corrects the address and uploads the state certificate, and validation clears.

Entity Validation Service: common questions

Can I use a P.O. box as my physical address?

No. SAM requires a physical address for the entity. You can usually list a separate mailing address.

Where do I get help with a validation ticket?

The Federal Service Desk (FSD.gov) handles SAM support, and free help is available from APEX Accelerators.
