beta.SAM.gov (beta.SAM.gov (former beta site))

beta.SAM.gov stands for beta.SAM.gov (former beta site). beta.SAM.gov was the public test site GSA used while rebuilding its contracting systems into one modern website. Over a few years it absorbed several older sites, including FedBizOpps (FBO), the longtime federal bid board, which was retired in late 2019.

In May 2021 the beta site became the official SAM.gov, and the older SAM site was retired. Today there is just SAM.gov for registrations, opportunities, entity searches and data services.

Why it matters to a small contractor

If an old bookmark or guide sends you to beta.SAM.gov or FedBizOpps, just go to SAM.gov. Everything you need is there now.

Example

A contractor following an old training video tries to search FedBizOpps. She learns it was folded into SAM.gov and runs the same search under Contract Opportunities.

beta.SAM.gov: common questions

Is FedBizOpps still around?

No. FedBizOpps was retired and its contract opportunity notices moved to SAM.gov.

Did my old SAM login carry over?

Users sign in with Login.gov, which was already required for SAM before the switch. Your entity registration carried over.
