DIBBS (DLA Internet Bid Board System)
DIBBS stands for DLA Internet Bid Board System. DIBBS is the Defense Logistics Agency's online bid board for buying spare parts and supplies for the military. It posts thousands of requests for quotation, many of them small and automated, organized by National Stock Number and Federal Supply Class.
To quote, you need an active SAM registration with a CAGE code and a DIBBS account tied to it. Some items have restricted technical drawings that require Joint Certification Program approval to download.
Why it matters to a small contractor
If you supply parts, hardware, filters, or industrial items, DIBBS can be a steady stream of small orders. Learn the item's approved sources and packaging requirements before quoting, because mistakes get rejected.
Example
A small industrial supply company searches DIBBS each morning for its FSCs, finds a quote for gaskets from an approved manufacturer it buys from, and submits a price with a delivery date.
DIBBS: common questions
Is DIBBS free?
Yes. Registration and quoting are free.
Do I have to be a manufacturer to quote on DIBBS?
No. Dealers and distributors can quote, but you must supply the approved part and meet any traceability requirements.
What is a DIBBS RFQ number?
Each request has a solicitation number beginning with an SP prefix tied to the DLA buying office. You use it to track and reference your quote.
