PIEE (Procurement Integrated Enterprise Environment)
PIEE stands for Procurement Integrated Enterprise Environment. PIEE is a Department of Defense web portal that gives contractors and government users one login to many procurement tools. For vendors, the most important pieces are WAWF for submitting invoices and receiving reports, SPRS for supplier risk and cybersecurity scores, and the Solicitation Module, which some DoD offices use to post and receive offers.
Each company needs at least one PIEE Electronic Business (EB) administrator for its CAGE code who approves the roles of other users. Vendor accounts require security setup such as a certificate or username, password and security questions.
Why it matters to a small contractor
If you win a defense contract, you will almost certainly invoice through PIEE. Set up your account and roles before you need to get paid, since role approvals can take time.
Example
A pest control company wins its first Army contract. The owner registers in PIEE, becomes the company's EB administrator, and then approves her office manager's WAWF vendor role to submit monthly invoices.
PIEE: common questions
Is PIEE the same as WAWF?
No. PIEE is the portal and WAWF is one of the applications inside it.
Do I need PIEE for civilian agencies?
Usually not. Civilian agencies often use other systems, such as Treasury's Invoice Processing Platform.
