IPP (Invoice Processing Platform)

IPP stands for Invoice Processing Platform. The Invoice Processing Platform is a web-based system run by the U.S. Department of the Treasury's Bureau of the Fiscal Service. Many civilian federal agencies use it to receive invoices, route them for approval, and show vendors their payment status.

Vendors usually enroll when an agency that uses IPP sends an invitation after award. Using IPP is free for vendors.

Why it matters to a small contractor

IPP lets you see where your invoice is and when it was paid, instead of chasing people by email. Watch for the enrollment email after you win and finish setup quickly.

Example

A janitorial company wins a contract with a civilian agency and receives an IPP enrollment email. The owner activates the account, then submits the first monthly invoice online.

IPP: common questions

Do all agencies use IPP?

No. DoD mainly uses WAWF, and some agencies use their own systems. Your contract will say how to invoice.

Does IPP replace SAM banking information?

No. Payments still go to the bank account in your SAM registration, so keep it current.
