Delivery Order
Delivery Order. A delivery order is an order for supplies placed under an existing contract, such as an IDIQ, a basic ordering agreement or a GSA schedule. It lists items, quantities, prices and the delivery date.
The parent contract sets the pricing and terms. The delivery order is the moment the government actually commits money and asks for goods.
Why it matters to a small contractor
If you are a supplier, delivery orders are your paycheck under an IDIQ. Watch delivery dates closely; late deliveries hurt your past performance record for future bids.
Example
A supply IDIQ lists safety vests at $8.50 each. A depot issues a delivery order for 2,000 vests, worth $17,000, due in 30 days.
Delivery Order: common questions
Can a delivery order include services?
Small incidental services like installation can be included, but mostly services go on task orders.
Does a delivery order have its own number?
Yes. Each order gets its own identifier tied to the parent contract.
