SubNet (SBA Subcontracting Network)
SubNet stands for SBA Subcontracting Network. SubNet is a free SBA database where prime contractors and higher-tier subcontractors post subcontracting opportunities. Postings can include requests for quotes, sources sought notices, and teaming partner searches.
It is not required for primes to use, so it does not show every subcontract opportunity. It is one more channel, alongside networking events and agency small business offices, where small firms can find work under federal primes.
Why it matters to a small contractor
Check SubNet regularly for your trade and area. Even if a posting is close to closing, contacting the prime can get you on its supplier list for the next job.
Example
A small fencing contractor searches SubNet and finds a prime looking for local fencing subs on a federal facility upgrade, then emails its capability statement and a quote.
