PPIRS (Past Performance Information Retrieval System)

PPIRS stands for Past Performance Information Retrieval System. PPIRS was the system that federal source selection officials used to retrieve contractor past performance reports collected from CPARS and other sources. It was a read-only library, not a place where evaluations were written.

PPIRS was retired, and its retrieval functions were merged into CPARS around 2019. Today evaluators pull past performance reports directly from CPARS.

Why it matters to a small contractor

If an old guide or solicitation template mentions PPIRS, read it as CPARS. Your federal performance record now lives there.

Example

A first-time bidder sees an old agency template that says evaluators will check PPIRS. She understands the agency now uses CPARS and makes sure her past performance contacts are current.

PPIRS: common questions

Can I still log into PPIRS?

No. The system was retired. Use CPARS to see evaluations on your contracts.

Did old PPIRS records disappear?

Records were carried into CPARS, subject to its retention rules.
