VendorNet (Wisconsin VendorNet)
VendorNet stands for Wisconsin VendorNet. VendorNet is the State of Wisconsin's procurement information system, managed by the Department of Administration. Vendors register to receive email notices of state bid opportunities that match their commodity codes, and can view current solicitations and contracts.
The site lists bids from state agencies and University of Wisconsin campuses, and some local governments use state contracts listed there. Each solicitation explains how to submit.
Why it matters to a small contractor
Register on VendorNet with commodity codes for everything you do. Wisconsin also offers certification for minority-owned, women-owned, and disabled veteran-owned businesses, which can help you as a sub.
Example
A small mechanical contractor registers on VendorNet and gets a notice for HVAC service at a UW campus. It follows the bid's instructions and submits on time.
