Cal eProcure (California State Contracts Register and eProcurement portal)
Cal eProcure stands for California State Contracts Register and eProcurement portal. Cal eProcure is the State of California's procurement portal, run by the Department of General Services. Vendors use it to search state solicitations (events), register as bidders, and apply for California Small Business (SB) and Disabled Veteran Business Enterprise (DVBE) certification.
Many state departments, such as CAL FIRE and DMV, post their bids there. Some solicitations accept responses in the portal, while others ask for email, mail, or delivery, so always read the event package.
Why it matters to a small contractor
If you want California state work, registering on Cal eProcure is step one. Pick accurate UNSPSC codes so bid notices reach you, and consider SB or DVBE certification if you qualify, since many state buyers have goals for those firms.
Example
A small fencing contractor registers on Cal eProcure and gets a notice for a CAL FIRE station fence repair. The bid package says responses go by email to the buyer, so the contractor emails the signed bid before the deadline.
