OSBP (Office of Small Business Programs)
OSBP stands for Office of Small Business Programs. The Office of Small Business Programs (OSBP) is the DoD's version of an OSDBU. There is an OSBP at the department level, and each military service, command, and many bases have their own small business professionals.
OSBP staff advocate for small business set-asides, review acquisition plans, and help companies learn how DoD buys. The DoD OSBP also oversees programs like APEX Accelerators and the Mentor-Protege Program.
Why it matters to a small contractor
The small business specialist at your nearest base is one of the most useful contacts you can make. They know which offices buy your services and what is coming up. Ask for a short meeting and bring a one-page capability statement.
Example
An HVAC contractor meets the small business specialist at a nearby Air Force base, who points it to an upcoming maintenance set-aside.
