State and local procurement

NYSCR (New York State Contract Reporter)

NYSCR stands for New York State Contract Reporter. The New York State Contract Reporter is the state's official publication of procurement opportunities. It is administered by Empire State Development. State agencies, authorities, and some local entities advertise there, and vendors can search ads and sign up for notifications.

Ads describe the opportunity and point to the issuing agency for the full documents. You usually respond to the agency, not to the Contract Reporter itself.

Why it matters to a small contractor

If you want New York public work, register on the Contract Reporter and set up searches for your trade and region. It is the most complete single list of New York state opportunities.

Example

A small grounds maintenance company sets up an NYSCR search for mowing in two counties. It sees an ad from a state park, downloads the documents from the agency, and submits a bid by mail.

NYSCR: common questions

Do I submit bids through NYSCR?

Usually no. The Contract Reporter advertises opportunities. The ad tells you how to get documents and where to submit.

Who runs the Contract Reporter?
