NAVFAC (Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command)

NAVFAC stands for Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command. The Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command (NAVFAC) is the Navy's facilities organization. It plans, builds, and maintains shore installations for the Navy and Marine Corps, from piers to barracks to utility plants.

NAVFAC works through regional commands and smaller field offices at bases. It buys construction, base operating support, facility maintenance, environmental services, and utilities work, often through multiple-award contracts and job-order style contracts.

Why it matters to a small contractor

If your crews work near a Navy or Marine Corps installation, NAVFAC is likely the buyer for the roofs, HVAC, grounds, janitorial, and pest control there. Many of these services are bundled into big base operating support contracts, so subcontracting to the prime is often the realistic path.

Example

A pest control company learns that a large base operating support contractor at a Navy base subcontracts out termite and rodent work and sends the prime its pricing and licenses.
