WEBS (Washington's Electronic Business Solution)
WEBS stands for Washington's Electronic Business Solution. WEBS is Washington's Electronic Business Solution, run by the Department of Enterprise Services. Washington state agencies post solicitations there, and registered vendors receive bid notifications based on the commodity codes they choose. Many cities and counties in Washington also post to WEBS.
Registration is free. Vendors are responsible for keeping their registration information current, and the WEBS agreement asks for updates at least once a year.
Why it matters to a small contractor
For Washington work, WEBS registration is the first step. Add every relevant commodity code, and keep your profile updated so you do not miss notices or amendments.
Example
A small fencing company registers in WEBS and picks codes for fence installation and repair. It receives a notice from a state agency for perimeter fencing and submits a bid following the solicitation's instructions.
WEBS: common questions
Do I need WEBS to bid on Washington state work?
State agencies use WEBS to post solicitations, and many require bidders to be registered. Registering also ensures you get amendments.
Is WEBS the same as OMWBE certification?
No. OMWBE handles minority- and women-owned business certification in Washington. WEBS is the bid notification system.
