State and local procurement

U3P (Utah Public Procurement Place)

U3P stands for Utah Public Procurement Place. The Utah Public Procurement Place (U3P) is the State of Utah's online sourcing portal, built on the Bonfire platform. The state Division of Purchasing and many agencies and political subdivisions post solicitations there.

Registration, notifications, and electronic responses are free for vendors. You choose commodity codes or categories during registration to get notices. Registering does not create a contract; it only lets you respond.

Why it matters to a small contractor

If you want Utah public work, register on U3P and choose your categories carefully. Agencies such as the state's facilities division moved their bids to U3P, so older registrations elsewhere may not reach you.

Example

A small concrete contractor registers on U3P and gets a notice for sidewalk repair from a state agency. It uploads its bid documents in the portal before the closing time.

U3P: common questions

Is U3P the same as Bonfire?

U3P runs on Bonfire, but it is Utah's own portal. Registering on another agency's Bonfire portal does not automatically register you for U3P notices.

Is U3P free for vendors?

Yes, the state says registration, notifications, and responses are free.
