USFWS (U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service)
USFWS stands for U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) is an Interior bureau that conserves fish, wildlife, and their habitats. It manages the National Wildlife Refuge System and national fish hatcheries.
USFWS buys habitat restoration, earthwork, fencing, invasive plant control, building maintenance, and equipment for refuges and hatcheries.
Why it matters to a small contractor
Refuges and hatcheries are in rural areas and often need small, practical jobs: mowing, ditch cleaning, water control structures, and building repairs. These can be good first contracts for local trades.
Example
An excavation company wins a contract to rebuild a water control structure that floods wetlands at a wildlife refuge.
