DOI (Department of the Interior)

DOI stands for Department of the Interior. The Department of the Interior (DOI) manages much of the nation's public land and natural resources. Its bureaus include the National Park Service, Bureau of Land Management, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Bureau of Reclamation, U.S. Geological Survey, and Bureau of Indian Affairs.

DOI buys construction, road and trail work, facility maintenance, environmental services, equipment, and supplies. Contracting is done through bureau offices and Interior's shared service centers.

Why it matters to a small contractor

Interior work is spread across rural and remote areas. Grounds, road, fencing, excavation, and facility trades can find steady small jobs at parks, refuges, and field offices. Many are small business set-asides.

Example

A fencing contractor bids on an Interior set-aside to replace wildlife fencing along a refuge boundary.
