NAC (VA National Acquisition Center)
NAC stands for VA National Acquisition Center. The VA National Acquisition Center (NAC) is a VA contracting office in Hines, Illinois. Under authority delegated by GSA, it manages the health care related Federal Supply Schedules, such as medical equipment, supplies, pharmaceuticals, and related services.
The NAC also awards national contracts used by VA and other agencies, including some DoD buyers. Vendors on its schedules can sell to many federal health care facilities without competing for each separate contract.
Why it matters to a small contractor
If you distribute medical supplies, equipment, or health care products, a VA schedule from the NAC is the main door into federal health care buying. It requires detailed pricing and commercial sales disclosures, so plan time for the offer.
Example
A medical supply distributor submits an offer to a VA Federal Supply Schedule through the NAC so hospitals can order its wound care products directly.
NAC: common questions
Is the VA schedule the same as a GSA Schedule?
Not quite. GSA delegated health care schedules to VA, so the NAC runs them separately from GSA's Multiple Award Schedule.
Who can buy from VA schedules?
VA facilities and other eligible federal agencies, including many DoD medical buyers, can order from them.
