XL EagleDAU (Defense Acquisition University)
DAU stands for Defense Acquisition University. The Defense Acquisition University (DAU) is the DoD school that trains the defense acquisition workforce, including contracting officers, program managers, and engineers. Its main campus is at Fort Belvoir, Virginia.
DAU offers courses, certifications, and online tools. Some of its learning resources and reference material are available to the public.
Why it matters to a small contractor
Learning how contracting officers are trained helps you write better bids. DAU's public reference material on pricing, contract types, and acquisition rules can answer questions without paying a consultant.
Example
A small contractor studies DAU's public material on contract types to understand what a firm-fixed-price with economic price adjustment means before bidding.
DAU: common questions
