SCBO (South Carolina Business Opportunities)
SCBO stands for South Carolina Business Opportunities. South Carolina Business Opportunities is the official advertising publication for South Carolina procurement. State agencies and many local governments post solicitation notices there, including construction and service contracts.
SCBO is a notice board. It tells you what is being bought and points to the issuing agency for documents and response instructions. Vendor registration and many electronic responses for state agencies run through the state's separate supplier system.
Why it matters to a small contractor
Check SCBO for South Carolina opportunities in your trade, then follow each notice to the issuing agency's instructions. Do not assume you can respond inside SCBO itself.
Example
A small paving contractor sees an SCBO notice for a county parking lot repair. The notice points to the county's purchasing office, which requires a sealed paper bid delivered by a set date.
SCBO: common questions
Can I submit a bid on SCBO?
Usually not. SCBO publishes notices. The notice explains where and how to submit.
Do local governments use SCBO?
Many South Carolina local governments advertise there, especially for construction.
