CLIN Pricing Sheet (Contract Line Item Number (CLIN) Pricing Sheet)

CLIN Pricing Sheet stands for Contract Line Item Number (CLIN) Pricing Sheet. A CLIN pricing sheet (also called a price schedule or bid schedule) lists each Contract Line Item Number, or CLIN, with a description, quantity, unit of measure, unit price and extended price. It usually appears in Section B or as a spreadsheet attachment.

In defense contracts, CLINs are typically four-digit numbers. Base period items often start at 0001, and option year items commonly use 1001, 2001 and so on. Sub-line items (SLINs) break a CLIN into smaller parts, such as 0001AA.

Why it matters to a small contractor

The CLIN sheet is how you get paid, so it has to be right. Fill every line, check that unit price times quantity equals the extended price, and keep the format the government provided. If a CLIN does not match the scope, ask a question before you bid.

Example

A pricing sheet has CLIN 0001 for monthly janitorial service, 12 months, and CLIN 0002 for floor stripping and waxing, 4 each. Option year one repeats them as CLINs 1001 and 1002. The contractor fills in all eight lines and totals each period.

CLIN Pricing Sheet: common questions

What if there is a math error on my pricing sheet?

The government may treat it as a mistake and handle it under the rules for mistakes in offers, which may involve asking you to confirm. Errors can also make your offer unacceptable, so check everything twice.

Can I add my own CLINs?

Generally no. Use the CLINs provided, and ask a question if something you must price is missing.
