What the job is
Services: Transportation for students with severe disabilities, including home-to-school routes, requested field trips, off-campus instruction, and summer programs.
Vehicles: Heated and air-conditioned vehicles with wheelchair lifts or ramps, wheelchair securement, occupant restraints, and specialized child seating and restraint systems.
Staffing: Qualified, background-checked drivers and bus attendants as needed, trained in disability support, medical emergencies, wheelchair handling, first aid, and CPR; backup staff and vehicles required.
Safety technology: GPS tracking, interior and exterior video, driver tablets, electronic route manifests and ridership tracking, RFID/student identification, parent notification app, and transportation dashboards.
Insurance: $5 million each for general liability, auto liability, and sexual abuse/molestation coverage; statutory workers’ compensation and $1 million employer’s liability.
Pricing and term: Separate hourly rates for drivers, attendants, relief drivers, summer transportation, and field trips, including all service costs. Rates fixed for the initial one-year term, with up to four annual renewals.
