What the job is
Scope: Review appeals, conduct pre-hearing conferences and hearings, review evidence, perform legal research, and write decisions; investigate and decide IDEA complaints as assigned.
Qualifications: Rank I in education or equivalent degree in law, psychology, or counseling; qualified Kentucky administrative hearing officer with IDEA expertise and no conflicts of interest.
Availability and travel: Preferred availability of at least 24 hours per month. Provide numeric weekly availability and any restrictions. Statewide travel, including possible overnight stays, is required.
Rates and training: Fixed compensation of $125/hour for services; required training paid at $500/day, capped at $2,500 per calendar year. Authorized travel and expenses reimbursed.
Term: Anticipated January 1, 2027–June 30, 2028; assignments are not guaranteed.
