What the job is
Scope: Serve as a defense attorney in mock trials, review student materials beforehand, cross-examine students, and critique their paperwork and testimony. Exercises cover search and seizure, penal code, and criminal statutory law.
Sessions: Four hours each, up to 13 sessions per attorney per fiscal year. Classes have 15–42 students, with two sessions running concurrently; three attorney/trainer openings are available.
Service period: November 9, 2026 through June 30, 2028.
Qualifications: JD from an ABA-accredited law school, Kentucky law license, and at least three years of sworn law enforcement or criminal prosecution/defense experience. KLEC instructor certification or a waiver within 60 days of award is required.
Pricing: Provide an all-inclusive rate per four-hour session covering preparation, travel, meals, lodging, and incidental expenses.
Insurance: General liability limits of $1 million per occurrence/$2 million aggregate and professional liability of $1 million per claim; $1 million automobile liability where applicable.
