We are seeking quotes for construction of the Phase 2 Habitats & Animal Care Building for the Arabian Leopard Facility at the Smithsonian National Zoological Park, 3001 Connecticut Ave NW, Washington, DC.
Scope of work: Build the Phase 2 Habitats and Animal Care Building under a Firm Fixed Price contract, estimated to exceed $10 million.
Specialty installations: Animal doors and transfer systems, radiant flooring, containment fencing, mesh and chutes, and shotcrete faux rock and faux trees.
Working conditions: Work in an occupied historic zoo campus on a small site, limiting sound and vibration to protect animals and scheduling around feeding, zoo hours, DC noise rules and public events.
Compliance requirements: Follow LEED documentation procedures, use BIM, meet the 40% small business subcontracting goal, and pay Davis-Bacon wage determinations DC20260002 and DC20260001.
Eligible offerors: Only prequalified firms may submit offers: Grunley, Consigli, and Whiting-Turner.
Schedule and dates: Pre-proposal meeting is Sept 18, 2026, questions are due Sept 30, proposals are due Nov 13, 2026 at 3:00 PM ET, and performance runs 578 calendar days from Notice to Proceed.
