Approved Source: Engineering source approval by the design activity is required to maintain part quality.
Build Requirements: Manufacture, test, and inspect containers to Container Research Corporation drawing 840E001, latest revision, and referenced specifications.
Material Specs: Containers require aluminum shells, specified desiccant and sealing compound, and ASTM B 841 zinc-nickel alloy finish.
Welding Standards: Welders and welding must meet the applicable AWS D1.1, D1.2, D1.3, D1.6, or MIL-W-22248 requirements.
Marking Requirements: Each container must have a nameplate with a UID data matrix marking compliant with drawing 15930 and the latest MIL-STD-130.
Quality Reviews: New manufacturers may require a pre-award survey and post-award conference, and prior sources may be recommended for a post-award conference.
