We are seeking quotes for a design-stage study of vessel designs that integrate fuel-efficiency and underwater radiated noise (URN) reducing technologies, for the U.S. Maritime Administration (MARAD) Vessel Design Challenge.
Scope of work: Design-stage studies using modeling to predict fuel efficiency and URN benefits of a systematic design approach, with input from naval architects, shipyards, and technology suppliers.
Modeling and testing: Any type of modeling may be used as needed, and direct measurement is not expected.
Propulsion and technology: There are no limits on propulsion or fuel type, and designs must state each technology's readiness level and commercial availability.
Applicant eligibility: Applicants must be organized under U.S. law (a U.S.-registered entity qualifies), with preference for U.S.-led teams, U.S. headquarters, and U.S.-flag operations.
Team and subcontractors: The proposal must name all team members, including subcontracted testing facilities or noise specialists, and foreign team members are not excluded.
