BACKGROUND Mike O�Callaghan Military Medical Center (MOMMC) performs 1,500 surgeries annually encompassing surgical services that include Orthopedics, ENT, Vascular, General, GYN, Ophthalmic, Urology, General, Labor and Delivery, and Oral Maxillofacial Surgery. The Sterile Processing Department (SPD) plays a critical role in ensuring the quality, safety, and functionality of surgical instruments used in patient care. As the department responsible for the cleaning, decontamination, inspection, assembly, sterilization, and distribution of surgical instruments, SPD must maintain instruments in optimal working conditions to support safe surgical outcomes and regulatory compliance. Properly maintained instruments prevent surgical delays, prevent patient harm, and uphold standards set by AAMI, ANSI, OSHA, and accrediting bodies like The Joint Commission.
To fulfill these responsibilities effectively, SPD relies on qualified service partners to provide specialized sharpening, repair, and refurbishment services that extend the life of instrumentation and ensure reliable performance in the operating room. SCOPE The overall purpose of this requirement is to obtain certification of operational standards of the following: provide all labor, tools, parts, materials, facilities, and transportation necessary to provide the following service: Comprehensive surgical instrument repair, sharpening, and maintenance of estimated 300 surgical sets (subject to change), services to include Orthopedics, ENT, Vascular, General, GYN, Ophthalmic, Urology, General, Labor and Delivery, Oral Maxillofacial surgery; Inspection and minor repair of surgery-adjacent equipment such as case carts, caskets, rolling carts, positioning devices, etc. Support for instrument tracking, designation, and accountabil…
